Broughton’s Waterhole is 4WD access only, Mallee and Yellowgums Camping Areas are accessed by walking tracks on the Little Desert Discovery Walk.

Fees no longer apply to Basic category campgrounds.
For all stays up until 30 June 2015, you will still need to book a campsite, but no fees will be charged. After 1 July 2015, no bookings will be taken for Basic category campgrounds - camping will be first in, first-served.
A 100% discount will apply to the Basic campsite fees (shown below) when you proceed with your booking.

Basic campgrounds in this park include: Kiata Camping Area, Broughtons Camping Area, Mallee Hike-In Camping Area & Yellowgum Hike-In Camping Area.

Details

Non-flush toilets are provided at all camping areas except Broughtons Waterhole. Horseshoe Bend Camping Area has flush toilets on site. There are communal fireplaces and picnic facilities at each camping area.

Little Desert National Park offers a range of hike-in, 4WD access and 2WD access camping areas. Most sites have non-flush toilets and basic picnic facilities. Camp beside the tranquil Wimmera River fringed with River Red Gums, or hike the rolling dunes of the desert.

Little Desert National Park is 375 km from Melbourne, between the Wimmera River and the South Australian border (Melway ref: 519 H9). A number of bitumen roads lead to the park from the Western Highway.

Yellowgums Hike-in Camping Area - on the southern loop of Little Desert Discovery Walk, between Kiata and Horseshoe Bend Camping Area. The camping area has a non-flush toilet, communal fireplaces and picnic facilities.

Kiata Camping Area is located 10km south of Kiata set in amongst Yellowgum and Blackbox woodland. The camping area has non-flush toilets, communal fireplaces and picnic facilities. A number of short walks are accessible from the camping area.

Mallee Hike-in Camping Area � on the northern loop of Little Desert Discovery Walk, halfway between Kiata and Horseshoe Bend Camping Area. The camping area has a non-flush toilet, communal fireplaces and picnic facilities.

Broughtons Waterhole Camping Area is very basic with no toilets, communal fireplaces and picnic facilities. The site is accessible on by 4WD and situated amongst Yellowgum woodland on the McDonald Hwy.
