There are three camping areas in a eucalypt forest setting available to book in Mount Buangor State Park. All areas are accessible by car, have non-numbered sites, non-flush toilets, fireplaces and picnic tables. There is a picnic shelter at Ferntree and Middle Creek Camping Areas. Visitors should ensure that they are aware of regulations around Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Ban Days. Dogs and Cats are not permitted in the park.

All three camping areas have good access to walking trails, view the park note or call 13 1963 for more information on walks in the park.

Explore a variety of landscapes including eucalypt forest, creek flats, waterfalls and steep escarpments. From the peak of Mount Buangor, the highest in the area, you can experience spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. There are three camping areas in the park.

Directions

The park is located between Ararat and Beaufort on the Western Highway, Route A8. Take Ferntree Gully Road off the Western Highway. The camping areas are located just inside the park entrance.

Middle Creek Camping Area

Middle Creek Camping Area contains 30 unpowered sites in a large open area, all of which accommodate both caravans and tents. Non-flush toilets, fireplaces, picnic tables and a picnic shelter are provided. Campers should be self-sufficient and bring drinking water and firewood. Mobile phone reception is limited. Each camp site holds a maximum of 6 people. For bookings of more than 6 people multiple sites must be booked. Individual sites are not reserved; please select your campsite(s) within the campground on arrival.

Bailes Camping Area

Bailes Camping Area contains 5 unpowered sites suitable for both tents and caravans. Non-flush toilets, communal fireplaces and picnic tables are provided. Campers should be self-sufficient and bring drinking water and firewood. Mobile phone reception is limited. Each camp site holds a maximum of 6 people. For bookings of more than 6 people multiple sites must be booked. Individual sites are not reserved; please select your campsite(s) within the campground on arrival.

Ferntree Camping Area - tent only

Ferntree Camping Area is suitable for tents only. The five individual sites are small and each is in a secluded bush setting. Each site has its own fireplace and picnic table. Campers should be self-sufficient and bring drinking water and firewood. Non-flush toilets are located in the adjacent day visitor area. Mobile phone reception is limited. Each camp site holds a maximum of 6 people. For bookings of more than 6 people multiple sites must be booked. Individual sites are not reserved; please select your campsite(s) within the campground on arrival.
