Alpine Discovery Days

Location: Wallace’s Hut Car Park Bogong High Plains Rd, Falls Creek, Vic 3699

Nestled within Victoria’s largest national park, the Alpine National Park, Wallace’s Hut on the Bogong High Plains is Victoria’s oldest surviving mountain hut.

Visit the iconic hut during the Alpine Discovery Days and explore its rich history with our Volunteer Park Guides. Step back in time as you listen to fascinating tales from the past and learn about Victoria’s legendary cattlemen. If you have time, our guides can also show you stunning alpine wetlands fringed by luminous green moss nearby and explain what makes them and this area so special. You can join a tour or simply drop by for a chat with a roving volunteer.
